Programme for Players 12 and under
'Young Academy' Players (1997 Y.O.B. or younger)
Player selection will be based on the player’s current ability, potential, commitment and compatibility of squad composition. The LTA long term player development guidelines will form the basis of the BTA Young Academy programme, e.g. aged 9 = 9 hours tennis related activities.
Players’ selection will be made with the assistance of the LTA’s Satellite Clubs and the Kent LTA.
The ‘Young Academy’ players will incorporate the BTA’s Talent ID players.
FUNDING SUPPORT
Funding support in this age group will be assessed individually and will be based in the following criteria but not weighted in any particular order.
1) Tennis Playing History
2) Tournament Played
3) Coordination Ability
4) Commitment (players parents)
5) Rate of progress
6) On Court Movement
7) Physical Fitness
8) Technical Ability
9) Character
10) Competition effectiveness
Players receiving BTA funding support must have the majority of their programme at the BTA which will incorporate the Parklangley squads that the BTA manages. Players will be managed by the BTA.
