We currently provide a distance learning programme through 2 colleges, up to and including year 9 Mercers College and for year 10 and 11(14 years of age GCSE) Oxford Distance Learning programme. Tutors can be scheduled for the various subjects together with peripatetic teachers available for music. The Academy is actually situated on the site of Newstead School for Girls (year 9 to 13) and we are currently negotiating with the school a scholarship tennis program to commence in September 2007. The pupil will be required to meet the academic entry level of the School, however will be allowed to do a reduced GCSE timetable, which will enable the pupil to commit to a ‘fuller time' tennis program with the Bromley Tennis Academy. AASE Programme – Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence. The Bromley Tennis Academy introduced the AASE Programme in 2007 following a very successful launch the year before with the Lawn Tennis Association in several other high performance centres. The Programme is aimed at players aged 16 and above that have completed their GCSE’s and are continuing in some form of education from 17-18. Their playing standard should be 6.1 or above. We offer through the scheme which is a Government initiative the following. There is scheduled 12 hours of free tennis activities which will normally be linked to additional hours of tennis with the academy. The 12 free tennis activities may include: There will be a combination of the above based on the player’s requirements. It includes UK CC level 1 and UKCC level 2 tennis qualifications together with two 1 day inductions normally held at the National Training Centre at Roehampton. We also provide the opportunity of overseas international tournaments, camps and National training centre days. There are also social events and Davis cup events that AASE players will receive an invitation to plus many other opportunities.
